[TRADEWINDS] TotalEnergies: Up to 40 new LNG bunker vessels needed by 2030
With the growth of LNG dual-fuel vessel orders and expected surge in uptake of LNG marine fuel in the coming years, Denis also highlighted the significant investments and studies that TotalEnergies are making to support the LNG bunkering, while considering the multiple decarbonization paths that will enable shipping’s decarbonization journey towards 2050.
These efforts include the commencement of LNG bunker operations in Singapore, plans for a new LNG bunker hub on the US West Coast, and the creation of the first LNG bunkering hub in the Middle East with the launch of the Marsa LNG Project.

Leading a Panel Discussion at Argus Green Marine Fuels Conference
In parallel, Frederic Meyer, Strategy & Projects Director of TotalEnergies Marine Fuels, spoke at the Argus Green Marine Fuels Conference.
He presented on the challenges and opportunities of marine biofuels, in particular, their competition for feedstock with the aviation sector and in the context of a changing regulatory landscape as industry strives to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Following his presentation, Frederic spoke with Argus, a leading energy market intelligence agency, in which he emphasized that the biggest challenge to shipping’s decarbonization is one of cultural change. Both these international events culminated in our Senior Vice President, Louise Tricoire speaking to Lucy Hine of Tradewinds and Rhys Berry of Bunkerspot.
