Becoming a reality: landmark LNG fueling operations

Gas Agility - TMFGS LNG Bunker Vessel

It was a memorable moment to attend Gas Agility's official naming ceremony in September albeit by live feed video conference because of the COVID-19 travel restrictions. The official launch of Gas Agility is a critical achievement to all the stakeholders involved in her creation, and I am upbeat about her future role, and the infrastructure that is being put in place to service LNG as a marine fuel.

We believe LNG could grow and reach more than 10% of the global bunkering market by 2030. That is why we are extending our reach into Asia and also the Mediterranean with two more LNGBVs.

In Singapore we will provide access to a 12,000-cbm LNGBV in mid-2021, which is set to become Asia’s largest LNGBV with our partner Pavilion Energy.

By the end of 2021, Gas Agility's sistership will be based in the port of Marseilles, where it will bunker CMA CGM’s 15,000-teu vessels while targeting cruise and other ships visiting the region.

For me the transition to LNG has begun. We see an orderbook where LNG-fuelled newbuilding now constitute more than 20% of the orders, and we are developing as fast as we can in all geographies.

You can read more on my insight following a recent interview with Industry Correspondent Lucy Hine at TradeWinds, which can be viewed on their subscription news site at https://www.tradewindsnews.com/gas/total-s-bunker-arm-targets-global-reach-on-lng-fuel-supply/2-1-884742.
